About us

ReActive – Powder Technology is a Spin-Off company of Politecnico di Milano founded in 2018 by the Aerospace Propulsion Laboratory (SPLab) of the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology of Politecnico di Milano. The team inherits an experience of over 40 years of research in the development, production, characterization, management and use of metal and non-metal powders in the areas of aerospace propulsion and energy materials.

Mission

The company develops and produces highly innovative powders through mechanical, chemical and mechano-chemical activation. According to customer needs, it is possible to use standard methodologies (STD) or the new proprietary NHEMA technique.

The team also offers a series of services and solutions to support the customer in managing all the problems related to quality control, use, storage or handling of powders. The Spin-Off is able to support customers in selecting the most suitable products for their needs, assisting the companies in the transition to new materials and their integration within production cycles.

Vision

ReActive – Powder Technology aims to become a reference point for all those groups, both public and private, that deal with powders.

History

1979
SPLab - Beginnings
SPLab is the Aerospace Propulsion Laboratory of Politecnico di Milano. The laboratory has always dealt with the study of solid propellants loaded with high energy density powders.
1979
2002
SPLab - Nanotechnologies are coming
In 2002, the first tests on solid propellants loaded with nano-sized metal powders were performed in order to evaluate their properties and potentialities.
2002
2012
SPLab - The first mechanical activation
In 2012 the first low-energy mechanical activation tests are performed. Activated materials in solid propellants proved to have particularly interesting properties.
2012
2013
SPLab - Activities on powders
Requests in the powder characterization area are increasing significantly. Under this push, the technique for the study of 2D morphology has improved.
2013
2015
SPLab - The NHEMA technique is born
At the beginning of 2015 the NHEMA technique for the high-energy mechanical activation of metal powders was successfully tested. Since then powders have been tested both within self-financed projects and European projects.
2015
2016
SPLab - Patents and vision of the future
The requests for support in the powder field reach levels that can affect the "core" activity of the laboratory (mainly focused on Aerospace Research). In order to optimize and enhance the various activities, those concerning the powders have been given specific attention in the frame of the spin-off and the patenting of the NHEMA technique was started.
2016
2017
ReActive - Beginnings
The activities of the new entrepreneurial experience begin and the procedures needed to found the company are started.
2017
2018
ReActive - Accreditation and strategies
ReActive - Powder Technology is credited as Spin-Off company of Politecnico di Milano and assumes the current name. Research activities on materials with high technological content continue.
